City Elections

The City of Crystal River holds an election every two years.  The City has five elected offices; four Council seats and a Mayor, which are all four-year terms.  Terms are staggered to ensure that no more than three of the terms expire in the same year. The next regular election will be held in November 3, 2026, in conjunction with the General Election.

Candidate Eligibility

A Person must be a United States citizen, minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age, be a registered voter, and reside within the corporate limits of the City of Crystal River for a period of six (6) months prior to the election.

Qualifying for Candidates

A candidate may pre-qualify by appointing a campaign treasurer and designating a campaign depository at any time, but no later than noon on the last day of the Candidate Qualifying period.

Nothing prohibits a person from announcing his or her intention to become a candidate prior to filing a Form DS-DE 9, Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates, as long as no contributions are received and no expenditures are made.

Council Seats up for Election

Council seats up for election during the 2026 General Election include the following: Seat No. 2, and Mayor's Seat (Seat No. 4). Filing your qualifying papers may be done with the City Clerk during normal business hours.  For your convenience, please call ahead to make an appointment.
