The City of Crystal River Downtown Entertainment District is a designated area within the city’s downtown where dining, shopping, and entertainment are intentionally brought together to create a lively and walkable experience. Within this district, visitors and residents can park once and enjoy multiple destinations on foot—from local restaurants and shops to waterfront views and community spaces. The district also allows for the controlled outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages purchased from participating businesses, provided they are served in City-approved, specially marked cups. Clearly posted signage throughout the area identifies the district boundaries so patrons can easily understand where these allowances apply.
By establishing this district, the City aims to support local businesses, increase foot traffic, and encourage people to spend more time enjoying downtown Crystal River. The Entertainment District fosters a vibrant, connected environment that enhances the overall visitor experience, promotes economic growth, and highlights the unique character of the community. It creates a welcoming destination where people can gather, explore, and experience all that downtown has to offer, while maintaining standards that prioritize safety and organization.
Look for the City of Crystal River Entertainment District decal in participating location windows. This will indicate which establishment you may purchase your beverages.
- The City of Crystal River has created an Entertainment District that is open year-round.
- The Entertainment District allows for participating establishments (bars and restaurants) to sell alcohol in a MARKED CONTAINER to customers that can then leave that bar or restaurant and move about within the Entertainment District.
- This does NOT allow for the public to “bring your own” into the Entertainment District. Alcohol purchased outside of participating establishments is prohibited in City of Crystal River streets and parks.
- A participating establishment (bar or restaurant) must apply and receive approval from the City of Crystal River.
- Any alcoholic beverage sold to customers for consumption by a participating establishment within the Entertainment District must comply with all of the following:
- The serving container must prominently display the name of the participating business.
- The serving container must prominently display the City of Crystal River’s Entertainment District Logo.
- The serving container cannot be made of glass and must be disposable.
- The serving container may not have a liquid capacity over 16 ounces.
- A customer that purchases alcoholic beverages to be consumed in the Entertainment District may not take that beverage into another bar or restaurant.
- A customer that purchases alcoholic beverages to be consumed in the Entertainment District may not take that beverage outside of the Entertainment district.
- Please be respectful of stores that do not wish to have Entertainment District beverages brought into their business.
